The nursery room is truly a wonderful, fun space for our children on Sunday mornings during the 10:00 AM service! The nursery even has a pager system to alert parents in the event they are needed. Parents can enjoy our Sunday service without the worry!
St. Paul’s Episcopal
Youth Christian Formation
Nursery
Our nursery is available every Sunday during
the 10:00 service for all of our infants, toddlers, preschoolers,
and kindergarten children. We have three regular caregivers
who provide a safe, happy environment for the children. Parents
have the option of taking a "beeper" with them to
church - if your child needs you, the nursery staff will "beep"
you - no need to worry all throughchurch.
Grades 1 – 5
We are introducing a new curriculum, The Episcopal Children’s Curriculum, which is rooted in scripture, the Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal 1982. Children will be encouraged to learn words and actions for participation in worship and liturgy. The curriculum has four units that we will cover: Old Testament, New Testament, Sacraments and the Church. The content of our lessons follows the church year so the children will be learning about their Episcopal faith and will understand the seasons that we celebrate.
Each class starts with an activity to support the lesson. For example, during the season of Advent we gathered around our own Advent wreath and lit the candle and discussed the meaning of the light. We then read the lesson’s Bible story from a children’s Bible so the children can truly understand the story. Some of the Bible stories are well known, such as Noah’s Arc, so the children are encouraged to tell the story as they know it! We will act out the parts of the story and discuss the meaning. We then have several great options to support our lesson. We may create a drawing or play a game to reinforce our learning. There are also puzzles to support each lesson and a time for discussion at the end. We will always end our lesson with a prayer and the children are encouraged to offer their own prayers. We then join the congregation for communion and the children may come and sit with the group or they may sit with you. Each child will have a “take home” card so that you are familiar with what we are learning and you can reinforce the lessons at home.
We are very excited about our new program because it emphasizes our Episcopal faith on a level that is meaningful and fun for our children! Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to be involved in this ever important ministry!
Grades 6 - 8
Children in grades 6 - 8 meet periodically after church to address needs in our community and in our world. For example, the children may be presented with a project such as the relief effort in Haiti. They will meet to discuss what they would like to do for the victims in Haiti and their plan of action. St. Paul's Church and School has been given many gifts and we embrace the opportunities with our children in grades 6 - 8 to share God's grace and "pay it forward"."
High School
YUTS is an active youth ministry that meets on most Sunday’s after church to discuss community outreach projects and teen challenges. Everyone in grades 6th to 11th is invited to join.
